CRIMINALS RESEARCH

I have found that when I can't find an ancestor on the census results, it is worth having a look for a criminal record. They may be one of the black sheep of the family.

PROCEEDINGS OF THE OLD BAILEY
This is another interesting site. I have also found that it often lists the judge who presided over the case. I have found many of the cases which were presided over by Charles Abbott.

BLACK SHEEP ANCESTORS
This is a very interesting site where you search for criminals that may be lurking in your ancestry!

NATIONAL ARCHIVES UK
The link below takes you to a very informative instruction guide on how to search the National records for criminal ancestors. The National Archives have also allowed copying of a lot of their records over to Ancestry
