All of these links are ones that I have used for my own research and found them to be incredibly interesting whether I found what I was looking for or not. I don't add links to resources, just for the sake of it. If I've not added a comment, then I found nothing for my research, but the resource may be useful for someone and shouldn't be overlooked.

CREW LIST INDEX PROJECT
This is a project which was gathered the largest database of entries from crew lists which cover the records of British merchant seamen of the late 19th Century. The CLIP crew name index is now available online at findmypast

ISLE OF WIGHT PUBS AND IMAGES
This is a really interesting site with old images of various parts of the island. It particularly focusses on Pub history. If you don't find what you're looking for, there is still a lot of interesting content. Any queries and the owner of the site is only happy to answer them.

ISLE OF WIGHT FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY
This is a great resource for researching ancestors who came from the Island.

PARISH TRANSCRIPTION SOCIETY
This is a site where parish registers are being transcribed and added to disc. The registers for the Isle of Wight, mainly span from 1780 to 1812. The records are transcribed on to a disc which can then be purchased. Other areas of Hampshire may span over a longer period of time. They also are moving to a searchable on line data base which can be viewed by purchasing credits.

SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL ARCHIVES - MERCHANT SEAMEN
The Southampton Archives hold a rich depository of records relating to Merchant Seamen. It really helps if you know the vessel that your ancestor sailed on. However it is an interesting site. Records are held covering the period 1863 - 1913

SOUTHAMPTON RESEARCH
A great site for any Southampton Researcher. You can even see the list of the crew for the Titanic. If you are interested in anything to do with Southampton, there is enough content to keep you interested for hours.

FRIENDS OF SOUTHAMPTON OLD CEMETERY
For those who live further afield, The Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery offer to find the grave for you. They ask for a donation for this service. They have an email link on their page.

HAMPSHIRE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
This is a nice site for those just starting out. Easy to navigate and they have publications for sale, available in PDF format.

ISLE OF WIGHT WORKHOUSES OR HOUSES OF INDUSTRY
This particular site has so much information on the Houses of Industry that were set up on the Isle of Wight at Newport and Northwood.

WORLD VITAL RECORDS - HAMPSHIRE
This is a membership site but they do offer a free trial. Their collections are expansive and they hold over 10,000 records for Newport alone. Some records span between 1541 and 1837 when civil registration began. Click here to visit site
