AMELIA GRAY - Born 1856. Isle of Wight

I haven't fully researched Amelia as yet, but what I can tell you is:

Amelia was born the second child of John Thomas Gray and Frances Blandford.

She and her husband (Sam?) had been in the service of Queen Victoria at Osborne house and had been married at Whippingham.

Sam wore a beard.

They had one son who had emigrated to America

Upon their retirement they followed him to America and sailed from Southampton Docks.

Amelia's brother John Thomas Gray was very sad to see her go and he never saw her again. Amelia and her husband had stayed with John Thomas and his family for a few days before they emigrated.

A beautiful retirement gift of china from Queen Victoria was smashed to smithereens during their rough passage at sea.
